If you’re looking to buy a SIM only plan, the first thing you need to know is which SIM card you’ll need. Different devices, including mobile phone, tablets and USB modems have different sized SIM slots, so making sure you get the right one is top of the list.
There are currently three main shapes of SIM cards. There only difference is size :
- Standard SIM
- Nano SIM
- Micro SIM
Below we’ve listed each SIM card size to give you an idea of what to look for. If you are unsure what size your handset takes, you can check the measurements of your SIM port on the handset.
Most SIM cards are now delivered in a combi format. A Combi SIM is a Standard SIM card which lets you pop out a smaller Mirco or Nano SIM if needed, therefore can be used in any device that accepts standard, micro or Nano SIMs.

Replacement SIM’s
There are instances in which you’ll need a replacement SIM card, like if your phone is lost or stolen. In these instances the first thing you should do is contact your network provider and explain why you require a new SIM.
New SIM cards can usually be provided by your network free of charge; however this may vary from network to network. If you’re at a loose end, we recommend either heading to your network’s local store where replacement SIMs will be available on the same day or escalating via live chat and asking for them to post one out ASAP.
